About us

Engineering Career Expo is an event that is established to create an environment of interaction between the students and the industrialized based personnel, so as to keep them abreast, fortify their academic spirit and ensure they are provided with the adequate knowledge and information needed to survive through their undergraduate days and beyond.

BACKGROUND

Engineering Career Expo, formerly known as ULES International Career Expo was first executed by the ULES Executives in the year 2011. The event was attended by 1527 students across various departments in the faculty, 19 companies, 8 keynote speakers and 20 dignitaries. The first edition was perceived generally as a benchmark, and we have strived to raise the bar higher as the years rolled by.

CHALLENGES

In the time past, graduates and undergraduates often channel their energy towards being formally educated, leaving out the fact that they need to be learned. Attending classes and passing exams is just primary, this will not offer any change, but rather subject the student to lack of employable mental and physical dexterities, inadequate skills and knowledge to start off as an entrepreneur.

CERTIFICATIONS

Every Student who gets to partake in the trainings, either in the technical skills or soft skills acquisition, gets certified. It's a proof of not just participation, but more importantly, completion of the trainings. These Certificates can be presented during job applications/interviews. It's an added advantage

TRAINING SCHEDULE

The University of Lagos Engineering Society, having being enlightened about the value birthed from this vision, decided to put ECX in the Faculty's Timetable. Thus, creating flexibility and enabling students to participate in this program at scheduled hours.

achievements

We've been able to train about 200 Students on both Technical and Soft Skills.

These Students were able to display these skills to multinational firms on the event's day. The Facilitators were students of the University of Lagos that have been privileged to intern in Big Firms like Goldmans Sachs in UK, and those were able to empower themselves via online courses.

It's an achievement to have been able to sell the ideas to Google, Luno, UAC and so more. And motivational speakers from different multinational firms came to talk and inspire the trained students.
